Retro Review #28: “A Nightmare on Fandom Street”
The Halloween season is upon us, fellow Slide-heads! And FANDOM ENTANGLEMENT is celebrating the spooky holiday with another retro review of the 90s sci-fi series SLIDERS. This time, we’re trapped in a prolonged nightmare as we discuss the fifth televised episode of Season 3, “The Dream Masters” (original airdate: October 18, 1996 on Fox).
On a world where a group of social misfits have learned to torture people by entering their dreams, Wade becomes a target of the group’s leader.
This episode featured a teleplay by Melinda Snodgrass from a story by Scott Smith Miller & Melinda Snodgrass, and was directed by Jefery Levy.
Co-hosts Mike Bloxam & Damon Sugameli are joined by Aaron Moss from The Headcast Network to tackle this strange and unusual cross between “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Revenge of the Nerds.” But before that, Mike shares an equally strange and unusual Sliders-related dream he had (which quite honestly doesn’t sound any less bizarre and horrible than this episode was). We definitely have some strong feelings about this episode, and not in the best way. Although your own mileage may vary, so you have been warned.
