In our fifth retro review of Sliders, Damon and Mike are joined by Erik to review “Last Days” (originally aired as 1×03).

FANDOM ENTANGLEMENT is back for the fifth in our series of retro reviews for SLIDERS. This time, we’re taking a look at Season 1, Episode 3 (a.k.a. Episode 5 in story continuity order), “Last Days” (original airdate: April 5, 1995 on Fox). The salvation of a world facing destruction by an asteroid rests in the hands of Arturo and an overzealous young scientist. Meanwhile, Quinn and Wade begin to face their feelings for each other.

This episode was written by Dan Lane and directed by Michael Keusch.

Co-hosts Damon Sugameli & Mike Bloxam are joined by Special Guest and long-time acquaintance Erik Dreiling, writer/co-writer on twenty-two “episodes” of Quantum Leap: The Virtual Seasons, as well as published author of the Fractured Timeline series of novels. His first two books, Operation: Silent Serpent and Twilight Hawk are available for purchase now from Jumpmaster Press.

In this episode, we discuss the character developments of our main cast in the face of global extinction and the three parallel storylines that are occurring: Quinn and Wade exploring their relationship (they were totally about to get it on); Arturo and Bennish in their attempt to save the world with “Fat Boy” (the name of the atomic bomb, in case anyone had other ideas 😜); and the highs and lows of Rembrandt’s soul-searching journey, from his churchgoing roots to his carefree attitude toward wanton destruction and reckless abandonment. (But hey, Cleavant gets to sing again!) We also ponder the possibility that perhaps this universe has its own time-traveling Quinn Mallory putting right what once went wrong. Hope you enjoy our analysis and review!

All slots for Season 1 have been filled. However, if you would like to join us as a guest co-host for Season 2, you can contact us at: fandom.entanglement@gmail.com
